The Nectar News is shared with students every Monday to educate and celebrate Bagley student news, identity, and expectations.
Principal’s Note
Over the course of this school year we want to expose our students to a variety of career options and types of jobs. Each week we’d like to highlight a job of a family at our school. Do you work in a restaurant or a hospital? Do you work with other adults or people of all ages? What are some skills you needed to get your job? Why would you recommend you job to our Bagley students? We also hope to create a very Bagley view of careers by having our families share. Please consider adding your job to this link below:

We hope you can join us next Wednesday, October 4th, for our school’s annual Open House. We will gather at 5:15 PM in the gym for an introduction of all staff and then offer two classroom sessions. Please choose one session to attend.
Session #1:5:30-6 PM Session #2 6:15-6:45 PM. All children or siblings are welcome, but this event is geared towards adults.
The goals of this event include:
- Fostering an adult classroom community
- Sharing more about staff background/interests
- Sharing classroom routines and goals
- Sharing grade level experiences (games, mini-lessons, materials, etc)
Late pick ups
Families, if you are picking your child up in the office after school has ended we must have you physically sign them out on our sign-out sheet. This ensure that we have all student pick ups accounted for.
4th and 5th grade Instrumental Music
Thanks again to our school’s PTA for funding two days of instrumental music for our students. There is SO much interest! Classes will start first week of October. Every student who put their 1st choice is granted with that choice. Mr. Avakyan will share more information with those students soon.
Preorder Portraits
Yuen Lui Studio will photograph individual portraits at Daniel Bagley Elementary on Thursday, October 5.
Families can preorder photos here: 2023-24 Daniel Bagley Elementary Picture Day 10/5 (a separate order is required for each student, including siblings)
- Print portrait orders will be shipped to the school in approximately three weeks after picture day.
- Digital orders will be sent via email from no-reply@imagequix.com in approximately two-three weeks after the picture day (use no-reply@imagequix.com to search your inbox/spam folders).
PTA and Volunteer News
Lunch and Office Volunteers Needed:
Thanks so much for your time and consideration for volunteering in the lunchroom or office from 10:30-12:30! Sign up to volunteer at lunch or in the office.
Move-a-thon:
Our Move-a-thon on Friday, October 6th is a fun event for our students and a great fundraiser for the PTA. Fundraising pledge sheets went home in Yellow Folders last week. Please share the Fundraising Link with your friends and family to extend our school’s fundraising efforts.
Move-a-thon registration. Enter your student’s full name, your email address, select your student’s teacher, and click “Add.”
As a school we are also motivating our students to ‘move!’ We have a goal of earning a total of at least 1,000 completed laps. This is a fun event where we get to see our students working hard and being silly. Please consider volunteering – more details about volunteering for the move-a-thon (7:45-11 AM full event, 8 AM -10 AM – 3-5 grade, or 9 AM-11:00 AM – K-2 grade).
Volunteer Info: This event requires the support of many volunteers to make it possible! Please consider volunteering – Sign up to volunteer at the move-a-thon. All volunteers will need to complete the SPS volunteer application process if not already approved for this school year. Important note: please complete this process ASAP as it needs to be completed two weeks before the event.
