ALO Decision for 2014-2015
Dear Daniel Bagley Community,
I hope you are enjoying your mid-winter breaks. I wanted to let you know about the Advanced Learning Opportunity status for the 2014-2015 school year. Daniel Bagley will be an ALO designated site beginning next school year. This means that students will have the opportunity to receive instruction in math and reading one grade level above their current placement. Students who are participating in ALO will be assessed and evaluated one grade level above on the Elementary Progress Report Card.
The staff has worked together to develop an exciting vision for ALO at Daniel Bagley. At this time, we do not have a final plan for how the services will be delivered during the school day. I will let the community know of the plan as soon as it is finalized. Please know, however, that we will be unable to provide instruction more than one grade level above a studentís current grade level.
Students who have qualified for Spectrum and APP will be able to participate in the ALO program. Students may also be qualified through the school as well. We are working on a criteria that will qualify a student using teacher input and assessment data. Parents will have an opportunity in the fall (or possibly June) to request that their child be considered for the ALO program.
We are excited to formalize an advanced learning plan at Daniel Bagley. I hope this message finds you in a timely manner so you can make informed decisions for your child for the next school year.
Sincerely,
Erika Ayer
