    Posted on 10/02/2020

    Dear Daniel Bagley Families,

Thanks to all of you for your support, patience and partnership this week as we launched our first full week of online remote learning. Here are a few updates for this week:

Updates from Ms. Bader about library check out:
Families can come pick up reserved books via Curbside on
    • Tuesdays 1-4
    • Wednesdays 11:30 – 1:30

Families will be divided into 2 groups (A and B) and can come every other week
    Group A – Last name starting A-L
    Group B – Last name starting M-Z
Curbside pickup will start the week of 9/28 for Group A and the following week for Group B.
Students will reserve books online, a notice will be sent to students/families when books are ready for pickup.

    FAQ
    How do students reserve books?
Students have been shown how to reserve books but if they need a refresher, here is a link to a SPS video showing in detail how to access the library catalogue and how to reserve books. https://www.seattleschools.org/departments/library_services/library_resources
Can we come if we have not received a notice that books are ready?
Yes, there will be a limited number of books available for “on the fly” checkout.
What if none of those days/times work for our family?
If none of those days/times work, please email me directly at cmbader@seattleschools.org and I will see what we can work out.
Will the books be quarantined, how will social distancing work?
Yes, the books will be quarantined for 6 days before being available for pick up. If students would like to browse “on the fly” books they will need to use hand sanitizer prior to looking at books. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES WHEN PICKING UP AND BROWSING!
Please remember this is a new process for all of us and I will see how it is all working out and may adjust the process as I learn what is working.
Please email me if you have questions: cmbader@seattleschools.org

Envision math information: This week teachers will be sending a link to have student take a beginning of the year baseline assessment. This will help inform our instructional planning for the fall. Please support your student with technical assistance if needed, and let them work independently on the content so we have accurate information to work from. Also, you will notice an speaker icon to have the item read to them.

Specialists schedule this year: We are excited to offer multiple learning modalities with our PE, Music and Art teachers this year. Homeroom teachers will direct the students to the required pre-recorded lessons base on their specific daily schedule. There is also an optional workshop time where students can go for live extension time with their specialist teachers: Ms. McNeer, Mr. Weigel and Ms. MK. Please note that this year Ms. MK is part time so on the week students have Music, Monday they will have library instead, and Friday we are working on having a choice folder in Seesaw for optional Music enrichment activities.

PTA – stay connected: Families can stay connected to our community in various ways. We make it easy by providing different ways for you to receive news and updates about school activities:

    • Daniel Bagley PTA Website: danielbagleypta.org
    • Online School Directory: danielbagleypta.org
    • School Newsletter  The Bagley Buzz Weekly E-Newsletter: danielbagleypta.org/get-connected
Facebook: a private closed group Daniel Bagley Elementary School Parents

Flu shot information: School nurses have partnered with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association to vaccinate students, staff, and families through 32 "drive-through" events at 16 schools in September and October. Visiting Nurse Association clinics at the JSCEE are provided for staff to receive the vaccination.
Parents may register all family members for a flu shot online via the registration link provided on the Health Services webpage. Please pick an appointment time and date when you register. Bring your insurance card to the clinic. To see the schedule of upcoming flu clinics and sign up for a flu shot visit the Health Services webpage.
