    Weekly Update 11/6/20
    Posted on 11/17/2020

    Dear Daniel Bagley Families,

As we head into November, we look forward to seeing you at our virtual community events including this week’s assembly, family conferences and several PTA social events. This is not an easy time to continue coping with all the distance we continue to experience at school, in our work and with our families. Even though we are not in the same space, we are together and keeping connected and supporting each other every day is so important to our community.

Here are a few updates for this week:

November Community Assembly – this Tuesday, November 10th at 9am.

Race and Equity updates- Our DB Race and Equity Instructional Design Committee last met on 10/22. We reviewed our decision-making process including the proposed enrollment change of shifting away from the current choice process for Montessori. In addition, we discussed Nice White Parents Podcast to provide context as we begin to look at the key instructional practices of both our Contemporary and Montessori programs. We also recognize that our current committee does not include voices of all our stakeholders, so we are working on a plan to include all voices including current and alumni students and our BIPOC families.

Talking Points – This fall our district introduced another way to connect using Talking Points mobile app so communication can be received as a text. Some of your child’s teachers may already have tried this out. Please download this app if it is something you are interested in using. See links to directions below:

Scholarships are available, and families can get reimbursed for transportation. Please contact Denae Gordon, in the school office.

Virtual lunch date between students – A reminder that families should use their personal Zoom or Teams accounts to facilitate a virtual lunch date with another student(s). They should not use SPS Teams or SPS student email accounts for this purpose.

    PTA updates:

    Give Us Your Ideas
In this remote learning year, the PTA continues to engage the Bagley community through critical connections such as classroom liaisons, the Buzz Newsletter, the v-list, and Facebook as well as fun activities like Bingo Night. Please continue to send us your ideas on how we can support you at this IdeaBoard

Giving Circle- If you are a family in need during the holidays, the Daniel Bagley community is here to help. The Giving Circle is a confidential program that receives gift requests from Bagley families in need during the holidays. Other Bagley families purchase the items requested and you take the gifts home just in time for the holidays.

To request assistance, please fill out the form in English or Spanish. You can also access the forms online on the PTA website. The deadline to submit the form is Monday, November 9.

Family Conferences- will be coming up next month, we are scheduling - November 18th-December 2nd. Look for communication coming soon from your child’s teacher to schedule a time. There will be no online classes November 23rd-25th.
